Cage ladder standard features

Made entirely of aluminium, our standard cage ladder is built to provide safe, long-lasting access to roofs and machinery in demanding industrial environments. The modular design keeps transport, storage and on-site assembly simple, quick and cost-effective. Every section bolts together, so there's no welding on site.

Key specifications of standard aluminium cage ladders:

  • Anti-slip 30×30 mm extruded aluminium rungs
  • Vertical posts with 75×25 mm extruded aluminium stringers
  • Galvanised steel wall-mounting brackets, positioned independently of the rungs and cage
  • 560 mm external ladder width
  • Safety cage inner diameter: Ø600 mm (Italian D.Lgs 81/2008) or 650 mm (EN ISO 14122-4)
  • Certificate of conformity supplied with every fixed ladder with safety cage

Advantages of a Creda cage ladder

  • Corrosion-resistant - fully anodisable aluminium construction resists rust, even outdoors or in coastal environments.
  • Fast installation - bolted, bayonet-jointed modules go up without welding, cutting assembly time on site.
  • Lightweight and compact - every section is easy to handle and store, reducing transport costs.
  • Fully customisable - height, incline, cage diameter and accessories are built around your project, never picked from a fixed catalogue.
  • Certified compliance - every cage ladder ships with its certificate of conformity.
  • Cross-industry versatility - the same fixed ladder with safety cage protects roof access points, tanks, silos, machinery and warehouse mezzanines alike.

Standards and regulations for cage ladders in Spain and Europe

Fixed ladders with safety cage installed in Spain and across the EU must meet the technical requirements of EN ISO 14122-4, the European standard covering permanent means of access to machinery, including cage dimensions, rung spacing and landing platforms. In Spain, this standard is adopted nationally as UNE-EN ISO 14122-4.

Beyond the equipment standard itself, the general duty to provide safe means of access for work at height in Spain comes from Real Decreto 486/1997, the royal decree on minimum health and safety requirements in the workplace, which requires employers to fit permanent, adequately protected access equipment wherever height poses a fall risk.

Creda designs every vertical cage ladder to meet EN ISO 14122-4 and, on request, the equivalent national standard of the country of installation, supplying the certificate of conformity with each project so it's ready for use as soon as it's installed.
